ABSORB - FRONT SPACE
Within this series of paintings, I am ‘absorbing’ the uniqueness of each sites inherent ‘pattern language’ that then informs my vision when designing landscapes.
When I am painting, I free myself from my design mind and distill information into broad abstract forms that are deeply layered to resemble topography. Embedded into the art is my reverence for the local eco-types, the colors and textures, the play of light and shadow; The essentials that create the genius loci.
It is here I live at the intersection of art and science — where landscape reveals an “evidence of being” that is deeply rooted. I am searching for an essential and authentic response to place.

SAND GARDEN
I paint and exhibit my art in an old auto parts space located on the Monterey Peninsula (open by appointment)
I affectionately know the space by its nickname, SAND GARDEN. I can feel the energy of original coastal dunes below the concrete floor. To this day, sand is carried along by strong winds, drifting over the roads in this coastal town, reminding us of its presence.
